Axicorp Press Release
Friedrichsdorf, March 2, 2009. AxiCorp announced today that founder and CEO Holger Gehlhar will hand over control of AxiCorp GmbH and its subsidiaries to his co-CEO Dirk Ullrich.
Gehlhar founded the company in 2002 and has built the AxiCorp Group from a small entrepreneurial operation to one of the fastest growing pharmaceutical companies in Germany. AxiCorp and Holger Gehlhar have won numerous awards that demonstrate the impressive and exceptional entrepreneurial success of Gehlhar and his team.
"Today, after 7 years of groundwork, I hand over a profitable and sound business with more than 200 future-proof jobs in Friedrichsdorf. In 2008, AxiCorp became a part of the Biocon Group, India's largest biotech conglomerate. AxiCorp as a result, is strategically lined up in a perfect way. I take pride in our collective success, particularly with regard to the achievements of the exceptional AxiCorp team. AxiCorp is positioned for a successful future in the European pharmaceutical market."
The two co-CEOs, Gehlhar and Ulrich have, over the past two years, been preparing and securing AxiCorp's future in a sustainable manner. Ullrich joined the firm in 2007 as co-CEO and shareholder with 20 years of experience in executive positions in the pharmaceutical industry, particularly in insulin. This experience will be important to Axicorp's success in launching biosimilar recombinant human insulin and analogs in Germany in partnership with its main shareholder, Biocon Limited. Diabetes is one the fastest spreading common diseases in Germany and worldwide. Ullrich and his team are working towards a goal of offering high quality, biosimilar insulin at an affordable price.
Driven by a philosophy of affordable healthcare, AxiCorp has aligned its growth strategies with the pharmaceutical needs of the German and EU markets. Today, AxiCorp is one of the fastest growing pharmaceutical companies in Germany.
