CYCLOPHIL ME (Cyclosporine)

Product Highlights
Cyclophil ME (Cyclosporine) belongs to a group of medicines known as immunosuppressants. It is used to lower the body's natural immunity in patients who receive organ transplants. When a patient receives an organ transplant the body's defense cells will try to get rid of (reject) the transplanted organ. Cyclophil ME works by preventing the defense cells from getting rid of the transplanted organ.

Composition
25mg, 50mg, 100mg microemulsified soft gel capsule and Cyclosporine oral solution in 50ml bottle (100mg/ml).

Indication

As a prophylaxis to prevent transplant rejection in organ transplantation and as a rescue therapy in patients with rejection episodes. Remember to tell your doctor if you have any allergies to this or any other medicine, food, dyes preservatives etc.

Dosage

Take this medicine only as directed by your doctor. Do not take more or less of it and do not take it more often than your doctor has prescribed. The exact amount of medicine you need has been carefully worked out. Taking too much may increase the chance of side effects while taking too little may not improve your condition.

To help you remember to take your medicine it is advisable to take it at the same time every day. This will also help cyclosporine work well by keeping a constant amount in the blood.

Absorption of this medicine may be changed if you change your diet. This medicine should be taken consistently with respect to meals. You should not change the type or amount of food you eat without consulting your health care professional. If this medicine upsets your stomach, your doctor may recommend that you take it with meals. It is important to check with your doctor instead of deciding to do so on your own.

Cyclophil ME and Blood Level

To know what dose of Cyclophil ME works best for you the doctor will ask you to do blood level tests of Cyclosporine at scheduled intervals. Depending upon the level of drug in the blood the doctor will alter the dose for you. So, please do the test as per your doctors’ advice at the scheduled time.

Drug Interactions

Grapefruit and grapefruit juice may increase the effects of cyclosporine by increasing the amount of this medicine in the body. Do not eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice while you are taking this medicine. For patients under treatment with cyclosporine, vaccination may be less effective and the use of live attenuated vaccines should be avoided.

To make Cyclophil ME oral solution taste better, mix it in a glass container with milk, chocolate milk, apple juice or orange juice (preferably at room temperature). Do not use a wax-lined or plastic disposable container. Stir it well then drink it immediately. After drinking all the liquid containing the medicine rinse the glass with a little more liquid and drink that as well, to ensure you get the full dosage of the medicine. Do not stop taking this medicine without first checking with your doctor. You may be advised to have to take the medicine throughout your life to prevent your body from rejecting the transplant.
