| Diabetes is
currently a life-long disease that requires complex
therapy, education and lifestyle modifications to avoid
the serious complications associated with it.
Fortunately, onset of diabetes mellitus Type 2 can
be delayed or prevented in people with prediabetes.
The efforts (diet, exercise, weight reduction etc.)
to keep blood glucose levels close to normal (fasting
levels below 126 mg/dl), is a proven method to prevent
diabetes. Since diabetes is a metabolic syndrome and
glucose disorder is just one part of it, high blood
pressure and cholesterol also have to be kept under
strict control. This should be a long-term goal to good
health. Regular monitoring of blood glucose levels is
always recommended.
