Dr. Christiane Hamacher is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director of Biocon Biologics. She joined as CEO of Biocon Biologics in March 2019.

Christiane is driving Biocon Biologics’ evolution into a global biosimilars leader through a culture of ‘collective genius’ and continuous innovation, which supports the organization’s agility in addressing the needs of patients, partners and healthcare systems worldwide.

Christiane has over 20 years of leadership experience in both strategic and operational roles across the value chain in global pharma, spanning Asia, Europe and the US. Prior to joining Biocon Biologics, she was with Roche in Basel, Switzerland from 2007 onwards and prior to that spent 10 years at Schering AG in Berlin, Germany.

An accomplished international C-suite executive, she has helped define and implement future-driven growth strategies as well as expand businesses through entrepreneurial innovation and patient-centricity. Her robust experience in steering complex, global matrix organizations and quickly building strong, trusting relationships have enabled her to achieve industry-leading results.

During her long career in the pharmaceutical industry, she has built expertise in the areas of oncology, virology, central nervous system (CNS), cardiovascular, gynaecology, diagnostics, dermatology, rheumatology and rare diseases.

Christiane has been conferred with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award in Bioprocessing for 2020 at the Asia Pacific Bioprocessing Excellence Awards event. Hosted by IMAPAC (Imagine Your Impact), these awards recognize exceptional leaders and companies in the Asia Pacific region.

Christiane holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology (Oncology) from the University Clinic Bergmannsheil / University of Bochum, Germany. She also studied Economics at the University of Hagen, Germany.
