General Counsel – Emerging Markets & Company Secretary

Akhilesh Nand is the General Counsel for Emerging Markets & Company Secretary at Biocon Biologics. He is responsible for leading the Legal, Risk, Compliance and Audit functions including Contracts, Litigation, support Global M&A, Licensing activities in the Emerging Markets and also be responsible for Compliance, Audit and Risk requirements at our entities in India, Malaysia and other emerging markets. He is also responsible for consolidating compliance, audit and risk findings at the corporate level.

Akhilesh joined Biocon in 2015 and has over two decades of experience in providing strategic advice to the board, management and the company on unsettled or complex legal issues, and he assists them in efficiently solving problems and minimizing risk. Prior to joining Biocon, he held strategic leadership roles in Ranbaxy Laboratories where he was responsible for enabling growth through a combination of innovative transactions and strategic mergers & acquisitions. He was instrumental in the successful merger of Ranbaxy Laboratories with Sun Pharmaceuticals, one of the largest M&A deals in the Indian pharma market.

He is a law graduate from the Delhi University and is a member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India.
