Kiran Kumar heads our state-of-the-art integrated insulins facility in Malaysia, which is the largest such facility in Asia. As the Site Head, Kiran Kumar leads the manufacturing operations that employ a large, talented, and dynamic workforce.

Kiran Kumar held key positions in accounting, taxation, compliance, and business finance at Biocon after joining the company in 2006. He also served as Biocon’s Company Secretary before moving to the Company’s Malaysia operations as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in 2017. In addition to his role as CFO, he led the Supply Chain operations and IT functions in Malaysia.

In May 2019, Kiran Kumar took over as the head of Biocon Sdn. Bhd., Malaysia, a subsidiary of Biocon Biologics. As the head of Malaysia operations, Kiran Kumar has demonstrated exceptional leadership in managing the site and forging key relationships with local and global stakeholders. Under his leadership, Biocon Malaysia has evolved into a Center of Excellence (CoE) for insulins in Malaysia with end-to-end capabilities for manufacturing a broad portfolio of regular, basal, and rapid insulins. The insulins manufactured at this facility are providing affordable access to lifesaving insulins for patients in many developed markets like U.S., EU, Australia, and Canada, as well as several emerging markets.

Kiran Kumar has been instrumental in building an over 850-strong biotech talent workforce in Malaysia. Besides grooming biotech talent in Malaysia, as the only insulin manufacturer in the country, Biocon Sdn. Bhd. is helping the country achieve insulin self-sufficiency and improve insulin access while providing savings to its partner, the Ministry of Health (MoH), Malaysia. Kiran Kumar has played a key role in developing these strong relationships with MoH, Malaysia, and other government bodies.

Having started his career as Company Secretary at Kirloskar Toyota Group, Bengaluru, Kiran Kumar has over two decades of varied experience spanning finance, legal, taxation, business management and operations with Kirloskar Toyota, Metro Cash & Carry, and Biocon Group. He has played multiple roles in finance across industries and was involved in setting up the business operations of Metro AG in India.

Kiran Kumar is an associate member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and is a Company Secretary by qualification. He has a bachelor’s degree in accountancy.
