Biocon’s Generic Formulation R&D (GF R&D) is committed to advancing drug development through a blend of scientific expertise, innovative technologies, and digital transformation.

Formulation R&D facility has been established to develop multiple products across these dosage forms, including but not limited to, oral solids, liquids, semi-solids, parental and dermatological dosage forms
Our focus spans peptides, oncology and non-oncology formulations, differentiated products, targeted drug delivery dosage forms, extended-release dosage forms, gastric retention dosage forms and integrated drug-device combination products. It also includes leveraging conventional and complex technologies, such as solid dispersion technology, Wurster coating, high-pressure homogenization, and long acting injectables systems.
Development facility is equipped with latest technology including but not limited to, hot-melt extrusion, nano-sizing, high pressure homogenization, high shear wet granulation, fluid bed processing (granulation, drying, coating), dry granulation (roller compaction, slugging), extrusion spheronization, perforated pan tablet coating using auto-coaters, capsule filling (powder, granules, pellets), spray drying, Lyophilizer, terminal sterilizers, microsphere processing system and many more. It is also supported by digital
Analytical R&D facility includes a wide range of equipment to support various techniques including but not limited to chromatographic separation (HPLC, UPLC, GC), detection (UV, fluorescence, Ultra-CAD, RI, FID, TCD), characterisation for polymorphic forms (Powder X-ray diffraction), physicochemical characterisation using thermal (DSC, TGA), particle size determination (Malvern PSD, Zeta sizer), dynamic vapour sorption studies (DVS), dissolution development & testing (USP-I, II & III), elemental determinations (ICP-OES), spectroscopic analysis (FTIR, NIR, Raman, & UV) and moisture determination (Karl fisher technique).
